Term 4 Immersion Assembly

Have you ever heard about something called Immersion assembly? Well on monday the first day of term 4, 2015. We had an immersion assembly. This was one of my favourite topics we have ever had. The topic for this term is survivor. I felt the excitement in my body waiting to burst out to know what the topic of this term was about. As soon as Mr Burt said it I just couldn't wait to learn about adapting, Adaptation.

So we all started our performances. First up was team 1! They made a movie. They first talked about their team going to the zoo and that was all but Mrs King Called out “Boring” as she was meant to, and they did a karaoke with a funny video with humans reacting and play with animals.They brang up some contestants but there could only be one winner. They sang a Katy Perry song called roar . I could tell you there were some good singers it was a hard decision for the judges, and finally there was a winner. The winner won a trip to the zoo with team 1.

Now it’s time to tell my favourite Performance which was by team 5. They had a really funny challenge, It was by eating noodles with chopsticks. There were 4 Teachers doing the Challenge, Miss Peato as the samoan. Miss Misela as The Tongan, Miss Ingram as an English person, and Miss Clark as the Asian. Who do you think won Miss Clark, Miss Peato, Miss Misela, or Miss Ingram? Well if you thought Miss Clark won you are right! They had a fake argument which was funny to all the kids, Because Islanders eat differently to other cultures. When they finished doing that challenge, Our team 5 teachers showed our really cool drawn Pictures of marvel heroes. Superman, Batman, Captain America, and Hulk.

This terms Immersion assembly was really cool. Especially the Heroes drawn by an artist. Well only if I could see Mr Burt’s amazing video over and over again. As I told you this was my favourite Immersion assembly.

How do people save money?

There are many ways to save such as not using all your money on expensive stuff you want. Like Keeping to your budget. Keeping to your budget is The best thing because you will still have money for different days. Saving money is good for you and your family. It will save the money for needs, like food and more.

To save up your money, First you need a job to earn money, and it doesn't matter if it's not or much at least you get money. Then get like a money can or get a bank account and just save money, put a budget of how much you want in there every day, each week, or it could be every fortnight. After like a month or two, and look at how much money you have, you could choose to spend some, or keep saving it. It is up to you.

So that's why everyone should save for next time. It takes time to save lots of money. So that is why saving is good. I say saving is a good thing you could save money, and if your friends are going some where like bowling Because you have earned it if you saved lots of money.

Needs vs Wants

What is a want?

A want is something you desire but don’t necessarily need. At times it may look cool, but might be too much over your budget. A want is something like new gadgets, Latest console games, PS4 games or to have the latest shoes. Most of the wants you want, cost a lot of money, like the latest Samsung, or the latest Ipod, Just because it's good it doesn't mean you have to have it.

What is a need?

A need is something like water, food, power, electricity. For example, “Mum I'm hungry, and there is no food to eat”. hat's why food is something you need to keep you sustained. Needs can help your hunger, when you're thirsty, to keep you warm, and much more to keep you surviving. But a need isn't junk food, Junk food doesn't help your body stay healthy.

Why is one more important that the other?

Needs is 100 times better then wants. Wants don't help you in anything, Like a PS4. All you do is play on it all day, what does it give you?? Nothing. A need can fix your problems. If you have no food, go to Pak N Save and buy cheap food. Don't go Carl's Jr or Mac Donald's to spend all your money, Get stuff that last longer. Dont forget to check the Price. Now that's why needs are better then wants.

Term 3 Immersion Assembly

Did you know That every term on the first day we do something called an Immersion assembly. Well that was yesterday., These are my two favourite that im going to talk about. It was one of the best and funniest immersion assembly ever. First up was team one. They were talking about pocket money, and to earn money Which I think is really cool. There movie was about going to the market and buying stuff with there money. It kind of looked like they were actually showing off with all there money.

It was time for team 2 ice cream makers. They did a producing of what they are doing first on a movie, and it showed kid's going to a shop, they entered the shop and saw the marvelous ice cream. What they were trying to say was that in the past weeks they are going to make different kind of ice cream. And they were asking questions to win chocolate ice cream, MmMmMmM. That was nice about talking about ice cream I really wanted one.

Boy on a Bike

Miss Peato, gave us and activity to do which Is called graphic Organiser. We read The book called, Boy On A Bike. Its about a Kid named Mac trying to raise money for St John by Bike riding 5100 Kilometers. and He raised, Drum roll please. DDADADADADDADADADA, and he raised $7,000. Well, I hope you like it :)

Future Aspiration

On May the 20th there were three people to come and see us, One was, Marcus The sandman Winter, Marcus winter is a professional sand artist, he can make pictures with sand on a beam of light, He is the best sand artist in the world, He told us a quote from a women that died last year, Her name was Maya Angelou. The quote from her that Marcus Winter liked was “ I Learned that People Will forget what you said, People will forget what you did, But people will never forget how you made them Feel”. He told us that she had A very bad life growing up, She had a bad family, And she was on of the most greatest author. After he said stuff about him, He taught Team 5 block some Bruno mars moves from the song Uptown Funk. And it was fun. Next we met was Louis Gordon-Latty From Glory League. He had a problem and his problem was, In basketball games you play good sometimes, and you want to see how good you played, But you never got to see your self, So Louis, and Glory league made an invention, Which was for recording every game his team and some other teams play, Just like NBA. And they have an ipad that can show who got points and hoops at what time which was cool, And louis showed him scoring points at what time which was awesome. Louis Gordon-Latty Loves basketball, He grew up playing Basketball. Now for the final person we have met before but is really cool, His name is Andrew Patterson, He is a person the collects people and connects them, So hes a person that Collects and Connect’s. He is a really good man, He bring some surprises to our school, He was the one that brang, Louis Gordon-Latty and Marcus The sandman Winter for us to meet them. He works at Radio Live. And that is him. That are the three people that came to our school, It was cool to meet them, and I hope to do it again.

Technology in WW1

Last Thursday Our Principal, Mr Burt told The year 7 & 8 Block about Good, and Bad Technology in World War one. He told us that is Grandfather was the first man ever To ride a bike. Ana also Women and Lady's were not aloud to ride bikes because If they hop on the bike They will show there undies When they get on the bike. Mr Burt told us that His grandpa, And Mrs Flavell's Grandpa went to war to. Here is a question that our Principal asked us, Technology: Good Or bad? and Mr Burt Said " I Think Technology is neutral".  I learnt something and it stood for, The two enemy's were pushing and shoving each other, then the British Empire and The Germans making inventions to make it better then the others. And they started fighting. And The word was called Militarism which stood for all that. The only thing I don't get is if they wanted to make better stuff then the other Why did they always have to put it up on the news paper. This is what they did on the news paper, "We have made a Boat called The Dreadnought, And its going to smash you (The British Empire) Then the Germans Make a bigger stronger and a better Boat and its like an upgrade and its called an Imperial German Navy ship, And this is what they said "No, We are going to smash you with our Stronger, Bigger, And better boat and your going to die" (Germans).It was a really cool presentation, And I loved it. It was also good because it showed awesome invention's from the, British Empire, and The German's. But some of it were also bad. And for the ratings I give it a 10 out of 10, Thank You Mr Burt

Our day at the amazing Polyfest

On the way on a bus going to the Poly fest. As soon as we got there people were screaming at couldn't wait to go in to see lots of stores, performances and more. We went in our bags got checked and we were all fine. We all met up near the Big ASB Gazebo. Kelcie Introduced all the studio people, and asked all of us “ Someone special is coming to see us” Yelled Kelcie. And coming out was John Key everyone was yelling Look John Key and lots of people Cheering.

When we got split up in our groups my dad and my group and I walked around to look for stalls. And we went to a maori flute making one. We got to use sandpaper. To smoothen the parts of the flute.

My other favourite part was seeing all the performances. I went to the Diversity stage and saw a performance. It was a mid hip hop and there were people wearing masks and doing really cool moves. I really enjoyed walking around with my group and my dad. We had fun and got to do like rock climbing police investigation, and a lot more.  

Amazing Polyfest 2015

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula van aka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!  

Finally the 2015 polyfest I have been waiting for is on for the next 3 days until, Tomorrow which goes on till thursday, friday, and saturday. It it the 40th year of the Polyfest celebration. It is really super cool so we can can watch all the best performances. These are the main stages Samoan stage, Tongan Stage, Niuean stage, Cook Island stage. Last Year My favourite stage was the Tongan Stage, And the college I liked was St Paul’s because my uncle was in it and they did a tongan dance called Kai Lau.

It is a dance with tongan spears, Mighty tongan warriors, and fierce warriors. So I wonder how well it will be this year because they have been training a lot, hard, and most of the time. That is why they are good at there stuff.

So I cant wait  to see all of it. I will be so fun and a really cool day. So dont Miss it.  

My perfect Holiday

On my Special Holidays It has been amazing. I did a lot of stuff like go to the beach over the harbour bridge, going to the nines and much more. It has been fun since the last 6 to 7 weeks.

My favourite thing on my holidays that i've done was going to the beach five times in a row with my family. There were big waves and we all got pushed by most of them. My Other favourite thing was going to piha beach it was really far but it was worth it.

I got to see all of the big waves, surfers, lifeguards, the nice sand, and going up the mountain. After that We had to go all the way back from piha to Glen Innes. It was a really long way and I waved Piha Goodbye From high up on the mountains, and that was my last view. I was pretty annoyed i never got to stay there longer, But we had to leave to go home before it gets late.

My boring weekend

In my Weekend, my Very Boring Weekend, I stayed home all day. It was a bad day to go anywhere because it was very windy. So we made a decision to stay home and sit down watching Television. Instead of doing that I tried to do something fun like playing games. So I had, Gone on my computer, Turned on my computer Vsssshhhhh as I hear the computer turn on I had to wait a couple of seconds. As soon as it turned on I was happy because I had cool games to play on there like a Warcraft games, Like Warcraft 3, Dota 2, and League Of Legends, It was so cool. I did not feel bored anymore. I felt excited to play online on the same network with my Dad. As I got up, I lead to the fridge to get some food, and got some dip and on the table I had saw chips, I took it all in the room and had a lot to my self. For my weekend i give it a 6 out of 10

My Really Fun Weekend

During the weekend on a Saturday afternoon I had stayed home for a little rest for church tonight. As when it came to night I Got up and had to get ready for church. As we got there to church we did a bring buy. A bring buy is when you make food and you sell it. We made Hot chips, Muffins, Cakes,Toasted sandwiches, Burgers, and 1.50 cans of drinks and sold it. It Was Really cool.

Suddenly on Sunday I went to The Mangere Pools for my aunt's birthday.  We had Stayed There For a long time. As Soon as we finished at the pools all of my aunt’s and some of my family went to my naans house for a desert feed. We had Waffles, Sprinkles, Ice Cream, Snickers pie, Chocolate topping sauce, Caramel Topping Sauce, and Water Melon. All of That feed was beautiful it tasted so nice that I had A lot To eat.

It was A Really Fun Weekend For me and my family and I Hope To Do It Again and for my weekends I give it a 10 out of 10.
